Twitter’s former head of security files whistleblower complaints with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Justice Department, and Federal Trade Commission against Twitter for alleged company's “extreme, egregious deficiencies” in its spam- and hacker-fighting practices.
Peiter Zatko, the former head of security of Twitter, has filed whistleblower’s complaints affirming that the company has misled federal regulators about its defenses against hackers and spam accounts.
The executive, who is a famed hacker known as "Mudge," has alleged that Twitter has falsely claimed it had a solid security plan and said he had warned colleagues that half the company's servers were running out-of-date and vulnerable software.
Chuck Grassley of the Senate Judiciary Committee said in a tweeted statement that the complaint raised serious national security concerns and privacy issues and needed to be investigated.
