SYMPOSIUM ON SYSTEMS OF FINANCIAL SECRECY

We are excited to share that Professor Diane Ring, Professor of Law at Boston College Law School and Member of the Corporate Crime Observatory Scientific Advisory Board, and Dr. Costantino Grasso, Associate Professor in Business and Law at Manchester Law School and Corporate Crime Observatory Editor-in-Chief, took part in the Symposium on Systems of Financial Secrecy.


The event, organized by the London School of Economics and Political Science - International Inequalities Institute and Open Ownership, took place on the 21st of February 2024 from 9:30 GMT.


The symposium included four insightful sessions addressing various critical aspects of financial secrecy and its societal implications. Prof. Ring and Dr. Grasso participated in the fourth session (15:30–17:15 GMT), which was focused on the intricate relationship between taxation, corruption, and public funds.

They were joined by Dr. Mihály Fazekas, Associate Professor at the Central European University, Irene Tello Arista, Ph.D. Researcher at the Central European University, Andrej Leontiev, Managing Partner at Taylor Wessing and External Consultant on AML/CFT at EU Global Facility, and Andres Knobel, Lead Researcher on Beneficial Ownership at Tax Justice Network.


Victoria Gronwald, Ph.D. Researcher at the London School of Economics and Associate Editor of the Corporate Crime Observatory, moderated the discussion. Additionally, Dr. Michael Vaughan, Research Fellow at the London School of Economics, served as the Discussant.
